Oh wow. Its been nearly 2 months since I last updated my blog! So many things have come to pass ever since. A few things like me and my baby’s birthday towards the end of december, new year’s celebrations, the start of school, my polytechnic alumni event, watching Beauty World at the Esplanade. Wow. One heck of a ride!
Anyways, I don’t know why, I haven’t been in much of a blogging mood lately. Everything’s been passing by so quickly! I’m already 22! It’s been nearly 4 years ever since I started blogging. Ah, sweet 18. I miss that number. The world was suddenly your oyster, you know what I mean? It was like from “No! You can’t watch movies with partial booby shots, or extremely violent ones like those with heads-blown-to-pieces, with charred-pieces-of-almost-tender-human-meat-hanging-loosely-from-the-bone, or maybe even the both of them together!: A side glance of Mila Jovovich’s nipple JUST before she whips out her flamethrower (wink wink. hahaha) to burn some human flesh” to “OH YEAH all within a day we make EVERYTHING bad for your body legal. STEP RIGHT UP TO DAMAGE YOUR LUNG AND/OR LIVER”. I mean what the hell? hahahaha.
Well, I’m just ranting so don’t mind me. Ah, did I mention I turned 22 already? haha. I really can’t believe it, you know? Sometimes when people ask me, 15 just rolls off my tongue you know? heh. Ok, seriously, answers ranging from anything OTHER than my actual age shuffles through my head. I don’t know why! Oh well, I’m just meant to be young, I guess : D
Oh, anyways, onto updating my life so far!:
Me and Charrie’s Birthday !!Surprise!!
You guys have no friggin IDEA how surprised the both of us were when Marina, Taufiq and Piq (Ellie, Kayleigh and Fir were in attendance) all planned a little cake cutting celebration in Fort Canning (COMPLETE with home-made cakes by Marina’s one-heck-of-a-chef Mum. THANK YOU AUNTIE!: D) and Pizza Hut food, FOLLOWED BY a LONG BLINDFOLDED WALK TO A FRIGGIN’ G-MAX BUNGEE RIDE. I mean, WHAT THE HELL?! hahahha. It was scary BUT in retrospect..I have to admit. It WAS kinda fun. haha. Thanks guys! :))) Pictures follow:

New Year’s Celebrations for 2008!
Hmm, this year’s new year’s celebrations was a very small mini affair. A small group of us actually gathered at Matt’s house for a short movie session at Matt’s Le Grande Mini Movie Theaterette. It was just a little gathering, a lot smaller than the other years. Maybe its because we mellowed down considerably as young adults…NOT! hahahaha. It was just probably due to a lack of planning, but it turned out kinda fun! We ate, drank (non-alcoholic beverages, mind you : P) and launched into a tirade of philosophical blabberings as we ushered in 2008. lol. Anyways, before I forget, let me update myself on my list of resolutions I made when I finished my army service:
1) Maintain a 1.5km swimming regime - Minimum twice a week (its hard to keep to this, its more like once every 2 weeks. ALRIGHT ALRIGHT I’m not there yet
sigh.)
if not minimum once. (its hard for me to this. running’s really bad for my already-injured knees. I’ll amend this to once a week)
AMENDMENT:
2) Maintain a 30min running regime - ONCE a week.
3) Build cycling stamina. 5km -> 10km -> 15km ->25km, etc. till 40km tops. (no racer bike yet, sigh : ( )
4) Join this year’s international OSIM Singapore triathlon on the 28/29th July. 1.5km Swim, 40km cycle and 10km run (didn’t take part in this either. I WILL JOIN ONE THIS YEAR!)
5 ) Book and study for my Basic Theory Test, and subsequently my Advanced Theory and Practical Driving Lessons : D (I’ve been driving for at least 2 months now. YAY!)
6 ) Get a part-time job. (already did, and finished it as well. YAY! done!)
7 ) Get a cute and hot Chinese girlfriend. oops. already got one. (hahahaha. this was actually typed in jest. but really, I’m really thankful that I’m still together with my Char. We went through a lot, but we’re still standing here in the end! : )))))
8 ) MAINTAIN my relationships well too! No use making them if you can’t keep em’ workin’ right? : ) (haven’t lost a friend yet, thankfully. You know who I’m talkin about:)))
9) Fix my old cranky Twinhead Pentium 3 Laptop. (JUST NEED A NEW HARDDISK DRIVE! sigh.) (its DONE! My old lappie’s workin again!: ) )
10) Get into a university! I really want to further my studies. hmm. (I’m in NUS (National University of Singapore) now, reading a Bachelor’s in Chemical Engineering. I guess this point’s…COMPLETED! WOO HOO! : D )
11) Join a LifeGuard course and get certification! (the last time I checked, they said they can’t start a course with so little people. I guess I won’t be getting this anytime soon : ( )
12) Improve my Japanese language skills. I might not be going to Japan now, but that don’t mean I can’t do it here! : ) Register for courses! (I went from Beginner 1, Beginner 2, Intermediate 1 and currently in Intermediate 2 in the span of time from the point I wrote this resolution till today. Each course was about 2 months. I hope to get my JLPT (Japanese Language Proficiency Test) Level 3 by the end of this year. I should think that’s achievable. Done. YAY!)
Well. 7/12 is not too bad right? : D I guess I did prettttyyyyy goood! : D Onwards to 2008! I have to draft another list of resolutions. look out for it pretty soon! : D
Singapore Polytechnic’s School of Chemical and Life Sciences Alumni Gathering
Its been nearly 2 years since I finished my Diploma in Chemical Engineering at Singapore Polytechnic’s School of Chemical and Life Sciences. If you’ve been following my blog for a long time, you might have noticed that the 3 years I’ve spent in there are some of the best in my life.
1) Losing tons of weight (25kg to be exact, 105kg to 75kg),
2) My Final Year Project winning one of about 7 Singapore-wide Research Projects awards (worth $1000) with a huge scale public presentation, which was inclusive of training by the Language & Communications Department, who eventually made use of a recording of our presentation to teach our juniors on presentation techniques. My cousin, who’s about 3 years my junior and in the same Chem. Eng. course, was surprised to see me in the video, and then proceeded to excitedly inform me. lol! Seriously honoured, from not being able to have the confidence to stand and talk in front of a LOT of people, to being able to present to a standard accepted by the people in the Language and Communications Dept.
3) Also, I can’t forget my Talentime experience with Dave and Grace. Performing on the piano while singing, Grace on the guitar/drums and Dave on the mike, in front a thousand people was one experience to remember. We had to go through a round of auditions, and bands were cut from 13 to 7. We eventually won 4th place, which wasn’t pretty bad since the top band won an islandwide competition before, and the other 2 groups (1 a capella, the other a rock band) weren’t pretty bad themselves.
Anyhoo, I managed to meet with most of my old classmates and friends, and we had a rockin’ time catching up. Pics follow!:

Also, school began!
National University of Singapore’s Bachelor in Chemical Engineering
I finally began my course on the 14th of January 2008 after much wait. I have to say..I worked really really hard and prayed even doubly hard to get into the course after my foundation courses back in the 2nd half of 2007, and thankfully managed to secure a place after the placement test and an interview.
The modules are pretty manageable so far, but one thing I’ve noticed in university is that you are left pretty much to your own devices when it comes to..well, pretty much everything. You’re expected to read up the notes before you come to class, anything you don’t understand about in the notes, you’re expected to research it yourself in the library, and if you don’t do that..you’re screwing yourself over. I’ve been putting in the hours daily, and I have to say…its really quite taxing, but the feeling you get after UNDERSTANDING something through your own effort..its priceless, really.
Anyways, wish me luck for the rest of my degree k? : ))))))
Beauty World 20th Anniversary Performance Re-run
Me and Char actually spent a little money to attend a performance of the famous Beauty World stage performance at the Esplanade, and it was one heck of an experience. The music, the singing, the acting, the props, the costumes..they were all magnificent! They actually had a whole orchestra performing at the back, complete with pianos, drums, cymbals..the works! The acting was also very VERY top notch. The comedic and seriousness factors were very balanced, and it kept me on the edge of my seat till the very end! We even managed to get autographs AND pictures taken with most of the cast members! Pics follow:
